SEISMIC ENGINEERING

Since 1990, Ülker Consulting Engineers offers seismic engineering services for all kinds of structures including buildings, warehouses, marine structures and historical structures all over Turkey and abroad. The company has an outstanding client list including Central Bank of Turkey, İş Bank, Pension Fund, Governorship of Istanbul, University of Boğaziçi, Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Engineering Institute, Ministry of Defense, Turkish Armed Forces, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Republic of Turkey Ministry of Public Works and Settlements, Turkish National Intelligence Organization and many more.
Throughout its 20 years of experience, the company has gained significant amount of technical capabilities in reinforced concrete masonry, steel and precast structures as well as historical structures. Ülker has also significant experience in using different seismic codes and analysis methods such as linear static, spectral response and nonlinear methods. In terms of retrofitting techniques, the company has implemented various methods including shear wall placement, steel plating, fiber wrapping and composite structural system implementation.
From site studies such as geometrical surveying, material assessment and soil assessment to mathematical modeling, structural assessment and retrofitting, Ulker’s competent staff is expert in every stage of the seismic engineering process. The company has close relations with the universities and has worked together with the academic staff in many projects either as a collaborator, sub contractor or as the design firm. Ülker has also undertaken large scale seismic projects and has completed them in a satisfactory manner, The large scale projects include ISMEP project CB1.2/a where seismic redesign of 40 public buildings were completed within 4 months followed by the construction supervision of approximately 50 school buildings. Another large project is the Seismic assessment and retrofit projects of 40 public buildings which was issued by Ministry of Settlement and completed in 3 months. Also, the seismic assessment and retrofit design of 3 high rise hotel buildings (Grand Ephesus Hotel, Stad Hotel, Grand Ankara Hotel) belonging to the Pension Fund of Turkey can be listed among the large scale projects completed. Ülker was the seismic consultant for the buildings and ports included in the Galataport Project. Kusadasi yatch port is another marine structure assessed and retrofitted by Ülker. Seismic assessment and rehabilitation design of military buildings in Marmara region, Akpınar Barracks and Mareşal Fevzi Çakmak Hospital (Erzurum), Kasimpasa Military Hospital Complex were are also among the seismic projects that were completed by Ülker.
Ülker is widely experienced in seismic assessment of historical structures as well. By utilizing various assessment and modeling methods and collaborating with expert academic staff, the company has completed significant historical assessment projects including Hagia Sophia, Kasimpasa Military Hospital, St. Irene Museum, Museum of Archeology, Beyazid Public Library, Eskihisar Castle, İş Bank - Yeni Camii branch, Karakoy Service Building of Central Bank of Turkey, Fatih Mosque, Veli Alemdar Building and Manisa Psychiatric Hospital.

 STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING

Since 1988, Ülker Consulting Engineers has been providing structural engineering solutions to its clients. The company has wide experience in both steel reinforced concrete and precast structural systems. In these 20 years, design of various types of structures have been completed including buildings, warehouses, environmental facilities, infrastructure facilities, viaducts and hotels. Aside from Turkish design codes, Ülker has been working with many international codes including U.S. (steel and seismic) and Russian codes.
Ülker has been serving to Republic of Turkey, Ministry of National Defense in many structural projects including buildings, warehouses,  missile silos and roadway design. Our completed projects include 4th Air Base Warehouses, 15. Kor Loj. Ds51151 warehouses, Beykoz IGLOO, diving and educational facilities and many more.
Ülker has also prepared the road design projects including the viaduct and related structural designs for the Profilo Shopping Center and infrastructure works of Akmerkez shopping center in Istanbul.
Together with environmental designs and projects, Ülker has provided structural designs and structural solutions for all kinds of facilities in wastewater and water treatment plants including settlement tanks, filter buildings, discharge lines, flocculation tanks, etc., for the Alanya Municipal WWTP, Konya Municipal WWTP, Kuşadası-Davutlar-Güzelçamlı Municipal WWTP, Çerkezköy Organized zone WWTP Industrial, Malatya Organized zone WWTP and more.Aside from many complete residential building structural designs, Ülker is the structural engineer for the 60,000m² Thermal Hotel to be constructed in Edremit.
Ülker is also experienced in the structural design of marine structures. Some completed projects include the design of Gemlik Marine Structures, Metaş Marine Structures, Bodrum İnce Burun Yatch Port, and sea investigation, mapping and Kuşadası Port.

RESEARCH STUDIES

Ülker Consulting Engineers is also involved in many research studies either in collaboration with University Labs or alone. Studies for determining the structural charactersitics for the fiber enhanced masonry wallpaper is a recent project conducted in collaboration with Bogazici University Structural Engineering Lab and Kandilli Observatory. Vibrational studies, including acceleration, velocity and displacement mapping for high-sensitive equipments has been completed in Siemens Kartal IT building. Structural assessment of columns exposed to high vibrational loads at Pierre Loti Teleferry system has also been assessed by Ülker.

CONSULTANCY SERVICES

From tender document preparation and contractor selection to quality assurance and coordination, project control and construction Supervision is also an integral part of the company. Ülker is expert in project control, including new building constructions, retrofit constructions as well as process constructions such as wastewater treatment plants.
Ülker Consulting Engineers’ full time construction supervision staffs are thoroughly experienced and educated. The company helps and promotes the staff’s attendance in seminars and workshops in their area of expertise. In order to enhance to quality assurance procedures, workflow, documents and checklists are redesigned for each project. An intense workshop is performed before the commencement of any construction supervision project.
Ülker has has worked and is still working as the project control consultant in many retrofit and new  constructions such as Stad Hotel, Grand Efes Hotel, İzmir Convention Center, many İş Bank Branches and at some Boğaziçi University Campus Buildings as well as the Alanya wastewater treatment plant, Ömerli Potable water treatment plans and Çerkezköy Organized Zone wastewater treatment plant. 
Finally Ülker Consulting Engineers is the lead construction supervisor for the ISMEP CB1.2/a project for the retrofit construction of  50 school buildings in 8 different regions of Istanbul. The project includes 5 different contractors each with different commencement dates.

ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING

Ülker has a separate structure and staff for the design and for the provision of consultancy services in environmental engineering to municipalities and organized zones. The company is experienced in municipal & Industrial Wastewater treatment plant design, potable plant design, sewage treatment design, solid waste disposal plant design and environmental impact assessments.
Ülker has provided engineering or consultancy services to numerous clients including Akmerkez, Alanya Municipality, Çerkezköy Organized Industrial Zone, Davutlar Municipality Governership of Kırklareli, Güzelçamli Municipality, Konya Greater Municipality, Kuşadasi Municipality, Malatya Organized Industrial Zone, Menemen Municipality, İSKİ and İstanbul Greater Municipalities.
Companies’ completed enviromental projects include Alanya WWTP, Konya WWTP, KUŞATAK WWTP, İstanbul Ömerli Potable WTP and many more.
